in 2005 we adopted a baby girl. while gazing into our new daughter’s eyes, my husband had an epiphany. even though he was not her “birth” father, she was still related to him. this set off a profound chain of events that has led to OriginOne, a brand-new company celebrating human oneness. while the company sells couture clothing, we are not merely a fashion company. if you want to wear clothes, shop somewhere else. if you want to wear the movement, wear OriginOne.
our collective story
our story is simple yet profound. we all came from the same place. we all share a common origin. we believe that understanding our one origin will unite us and promoting our collective birth will bring us closer together.
the OriginOne movement is about aggressively promoting human oneness. human oneness is about looking past differences that don’t matter. human oneness is about giving everyone the benefit of a blank slate upon which you can form an opinion after you get to know them.
by appreciating that there is a little bit of “them” in each of us, we hope to focus on our commonalities and disregard our trivial differences.
but here’s what we don’t support . . . a goody goody “love everyone” mentality. we do not love everyone unconditionally. some people suck. in fact, there are a lot of people that suck. terrorists, rapists, murderers, child molesters, and on and on and on.
the movement
the OriginOne movement is about aggressively promoting human oneness through beautifully crafted clothing with bold messaging. our goal is to create a community of people who “get it” and want to share the movement with others. to further support the cause, we cheerfully donate a double-digit percentage of all profits to organizations and charities that support oneness.
we will continue to push the movement by pushing the envelope with our products.
OriginOne oath
we want you to wear our stuff. but if you are truly going to “be the message” and “wear the movement,” we need you to agree to a few things. we need you to read and abide by the OriginOne oath. no joke. we’re not interested in selling a shirt if it means the OriginOne reputation will be jeopardized. when you wear our clothing you represent OriginOne and the belief in human oneness.
if you’re not up for the responsibility and just want to blend in, go get a shirt from affliction. if you want to make a difference, read on.
- i will, through my actions and words, aggressively promote human oneness.
this means you will act fairly and treat others with compassion and respect—regardless of race, sex, age, weight, religious preference, net-worth, attractiveness, or sexual orientation.
- i will not remain silent if I see or hear injustice.
it’s so easy to pretend you didn’t hear the comment or joke. it’s so easy to pretend you didn’t notice. it’s so easy to just go along and not say anything. it’s so easy, but it’s so wrong. every time we “let it slide” and give in to the situation, we become weaker and weaker. every time we don’t speak out against that which offends us, we betray ourselves. by keeping silent, we condone the injustice. by keeping silent, we are shouting our acceptance. when you put on the OriginOne shirt, you must rise up to defend your beliefs. be strong for those who cannot.
- i will look for opportunities to share the OriginOne message and movement with others.
it might be a second look or it might be a whisper from someone behind you in line. it could be a nod you receive or an inquisitive look. it might even be a “what does your shirt mean?” comment. real change can only come about by creating a dialogue with those that are least receptive to the message. regardless of its form, seize the opportunity to discuss the movement and the oath.
